Arts & Crafts for Adults: Mono Printing Workshop

Friday 10th May 2024, 10.15am – 12.15pm

Experience printmaker Geoff Bennet will be here to guide you in producing simple prints from indented polystyrene sheets, stencils or from found objects.

£20 per person.  All materials and refreshments provided.

FOHM: The Addis Company – a talk by Robin Addis

Tuesday 21st May –8 pm – St. Andrew’s Centre, St. Andrew Street, Hertford, SG14 1HZ

After school, Robin Addis spent several years as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice in Coventry. Then he travelled round the World, working for a while in an American brush factory, and in the Australian Addis company in Sydney. He started work full time at Addis in Hertford in about 1963 and worked there until the 1990s. Having passed many old and interesting brushes and brush handles to Hertford Museum, Robin recorded their descriptions for the Museum’s records. His talk will cover seven generations of his family

‘Hertford by Train’ travel poster competition: 100 Years of Hertford North

Design a ‘Hertford By Train’ travel poster and win a family train ticket to a destination of your choice!

Celebrate Hertford North’s 100th Birthday with Hertford Museum and Great Northern Railway. Design a poster to show everything that’s great about travelling to Hertford by train!

Guided Walks: Where were Hertford’s gaols? (led by Jean Riddell)

Sunday 26th May 2024, 11.00am – 12.00pm

Over 6 centuries the town had 4 gaols. Join local historian Jean Riddell to discover where they were, their history and why they were demolished.

May Half Term Family Activities: 100 Years of Hertford North

Tuesday 28th, Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th May 2024, 10am – 1pm

Drop in and take part in train-themed arts and crafts at the museum this half-term to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Hertford North Station.

£3.50 per child, DROP IN

*Free places available for children of low-income families. Contact the museum for more information. Proof of low income in the form of a benefits letter or tax credits award letter must be shown at the time of booking sessions or upon arrival at drop-in sessions.

Celebrate 100 Years of Hertford North station – drop in and play with some traditional toys and get hands on with a train-themed family craft activity.

Sunday 2nd June 2024, 11.30am – 12.30pm

Join Peter Ruffles and local historian David Dent on the 100th anniversary of Hertford North Station. Learn about the origins of the station, and follow the route of the old Cowbridge railway line back into town.

£5 per person

Start point: Hertford North station, by the bike racks

End point: Hertford Museum – why not come inside and see our Hertford North centenary exhibition?

Parliament Square was so named about 1930. Join local historian Jean Riddell to see where the old castle moat was, and the site of the lost buildings of Hogshills.
