Volunteers

At Hertford Museum, we are very fortunate to have a fantastic team of volunteers who help us out in a wide variety of ways, from collections care, to IT support, to helping with events.

No prior experience is necessary, we are looking for enthusiastic people who are willing to get stuck in. We hope that volunteering with us will be enjoyable, as well as providing work experience, allowing you to participate in the Hertford community, and be part of a team.

If you’re interested in volunteering, get in touch with the Assistant Curator at kathryn@hertfordmuseum.org.uk.

References and DBS check required in some roles.

Current Volunteer Roles:

School holiday activities volunteer

Would you like to be part of the museum’s family events team?

We are looking for volunteers to help with our family craft activities which we run in school holidays.

This will involve greeting families and instructing and assisting them with crafts (so be prepared for some cutting and sticking!)

This role would be ideal for someone who is confident working with the public, and is happy to get stuck in.

The museum offers safeguarding training to all volunteers. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a basic DBS check.

Contact kathryn@hertfordmuseum.org.uk for further information, or to apply.

Sunday Stewards

Would you like to be part of an award-winning Front of House team?

We are looking for Sunday Stewards to man the front desk, greet and orientate visitors, facilitate shop sales and monitor and assist visitors during opening hours.

We hope to recruit a small team so that each volunteer would be required to help on intermittent Sundays as part of a rota.
