Ainu women dancing at the Ainu village, Shiraoi, Hokkaido, Summer 1938. Postcard collected by Nell Lloyd, granddaughter of R.T. Andrews, founder of Hertford Museum. R.T.’s sister Louisa married missionary Dr John Batchelor and lived in Hokkaido with him for 50 years until her death in 1936.
