The Batchelor home, Sapporo, Hokkaido

The home of John and Louisa Batchelor, Sapporo, Hokkaido, 1930s. The house was later dismantled and re-erected in the grounds of the Botanic gardens. Photograph taken by Nell Lloyd, granddaughter of R.T. Andrews, founder of Hertford Museum. R.T.’s sister Louisa married missionary Dr John Batchelor and lived in Hokkaido with him for 50 years until her death in 1936.
