Oral History

Hertford Oral History Group was founded in 1990 with the intention of preserving the memories of Hertford residents, with the support of Hertford Museum, Hertford Civic Society and Hertford & Ware Local History Society. Since then over 400 people have been recorded and a proportion of them transcribed by volunteers, providing a priceless record of Hertford’s past in the words and voices of those who experienced it. In addition, the museum actively records individuals connected with local events, industries, businesses and communities in Hertford and over 30 surrounding villages.
