The 1st Battalion Hertfordshire Regiment emerged in 1908 as part of the new reserve force within the Territorial Army. First mobilised as war began in August 1914, it was the only battalion to serve abroad. More than 900 officers and men lost their lives. The regiment's battle honours include two Victoria Crosses and more than 300 decorations and mentions-in despatches were awarded to members of the battalion. For more information, click here.
