FOHM: Shopping in Hertford in the 1620s to 1660s – a talk by Dr Alan Thomson

Dr Alan Thomson taught in Essex schools, then at Balls Park College of Education, Hatfield
Polytechnic and the University of Hertfordshire. He has written a book which includes the
Primary Sources for Hertfordshire and the First Civil War, and an account of the Ware Mutiny
1647 as well as a number of articles on local history in ‘Herts. Past and Present’. The theme of
his talk will be what you might have seen, bought, smelt etc. when shopping in Hertford in the
mid 17th century
