Regular events at Hertford Museum

Wednesday, January 29th, 2014

Often in these blogs we talk about upcoming special events or new exhibitions but there are lots of events and activities that happen regularly at the museum so today we want to share some of them with you!

market

This Friday sees the return of the Hertford Country Market! The market fills our Andrews Room (and spills outside in the summer) every Friday from 10.30 to 12.30 and you can buy homemade cakes, jams and crafts as well as fresh flowers and seasonal produce.

stay and play

The on Saturday it’s the first Saturday of the month which makes it a Stay & Play Saturday. The Andrews Room will be open for families to enjoy our traditional wooden toys, make something crafty and read a book. Whilst you are here why not use the discovery station toys to explore the galleries too? Best of all this activity is entirely FREE!

Toddler Tuesday

Once a month we also hold a Toddler Tuesday between 10.30 – 11.30 am where you and your toddler can take part in themed crafty activities, play with toys and share a story! The sessions are only £1.50 per child including refreshments for all but you must book in advance!

knit and natter

For grown ups we also hold a Knit & Natter on the second Thursday of the month from 10.30 – 12.30. Whether you’re a seasoned knitter or just a beginner bring your projects along to Hertford Museum and you can share ideas and patterns in a comfortable setting over a cup of tea of coffee.

newsletter

Details of all of these regular events, along with our one-off events, can be found in our Newsletter or on our What’s On page or you can sign up for our eNewsletter which we send out about once a month!

One more week till Christmas!

Wednesday, December 18th, 2013

There are only seven sleeps till Christmas but there’s still plenty to see and do (and buy!) at Hertford Museum.

Our World of Wallace exhibition is still open and the perfect place to escape to if all the Christmas planning is getting to be too much and it’s also a great time to have a look around our permanent galleries but if you can’t think of anything but Christmas then we’ve got lots of present ideas for everyone!

We’ve got beautiful minerals, a wonderful print of Hertford drawn by David Kirby (and just in this week we’ve also got cards with the same design- perfect for thank you notes!), stocking filler gifts, Christmas cards and not forgetting all our wonderful World of Wallace merchandise from mugs and bags to our brilliant “Where’s Wallace” poster (as a poster or a colouring sheet!)

There is one more chance to do some shopping at the Country Market this Friday and, by popular demand, the Craft & Curio Fair is squeezing in one more fair this Saturday!

We’re also going to be launching our new mailing list which we’ll be using to send out emails to all of our supporters once or twice a month. With the cost of post going up all the time a eNewsletter is the best way to keep everyone up-to-date with everything that’s happening at the museum so we hope lots of you will sign up! We’ll be sending out our museum newsletter, event flyers, information about children’s activities and lots more so don’t miss out!

You can sign up to our new eNewsletter from the front page of our website.
